About the Friends

The Friends are a group of staff and parents who organise fundraising and social events for the school. All parents automatically become members when their children start school.
The Friends assist the teachers in the provision of specific resources for the school and for all of those lovely extras that make your child's time at Folly Hill, that extra bit special and memorable. The fundraisers that we organise provide a closer link between home and school, fostering a strong sense of community spirit and bring staff, parents and pupils together socially in support of our school.

What do we do

  • Summer Fair
  • Christmas Fair
  • Termly cake and craft sales
  • Moonbeam Movie Night
  • Easter Egg Hunt
  • End of year picnic
  • Provide refreshments at school events
  • and much more ...

The focus of these events is to create opportunities for the children to have fun and enjoy their school in an informal way.

We also hold evening social events for the parents and carers to enjoy, such as the Quiz Night & Pudding Auction, Fashion Night and Race Night. These events are all set up and run by parents and teachers who volunteer their precious time and skills.

How involved do I have to get?

That depends on how much you are prepared to give. Involvement can range from donating a prize for a tombola, attending an event, helping to man a stall at the summer fair, right up to joining the committee. If you do come to a meeting you won’t be roped into doing loads of stuff that you don’t want to do! All help is very much appreciated, no matter how big or small. We are constantly on the lookout for new ideas and fresh takes on traditional ways.  For the working parents amongst you or ones with little ones, or people who don't feel they can be involved just yet, there is always something that you can do - there are so many ways that you can give back to the school and really make the most of your time here, with your child. Enjoy it, it goes so so very fast !

Recently, we have purchased interactive smartboards to be used in the classrooms.  We also fund a travelling Theatre company to come in at Christmas to put on a performance for the children and we run a Christmas Party - these are to name but a few things that we fund, as well as ongoing IT software and music licensing, cooking and baking, and those things that go on unnoticed behind the scenes.
