Dear Everyone,

We hope you have all enjoyed September at Folly Hill School. Thank you so much for your support so far. The Friends AGM was most enjoyable with a chance to talk to parents and have some refreshments.

Rainbow parents attended a reading workshop. Unfortunately Ingrid was unable to be at the meeting but I hope to run a workshop for ALL parents/carers later in the year.

Flu - advice

In line with our flu policy, we issue the following advice:

If you do catch flu:

Stay at home and rest
Take medicines such as aspirin, ibuprofen or paracetamol to relieve the symptoms (following the advice with the medicines). Persons under 35 must not be given aspirin or ready-made flu remedies containing aspirin
Drink plenty of fluids

Swine Flu

Current alert level: 6. This means the WHO have indicated that a global pandemic of Swine Flu is under way.

We have had children absent from school with flu-like symptoms. Please follow this »link« to read our advice issued in accordance with our flu policy.

Admissions - Sept 2010

Prospective reception year parents and parents of Moonbeam pupils will need to make their choices of schools for next September admission by noon on Thursday 22nd October 2009. This year in Surrey there is a 2 step online admissions process.

Register with the eAdmissions web site and obtain login information via email. This can be done in advance of choosing schools.
Enter your child's details and the list of up to 3 schools that you would like them to attend. This can be completed any time before 22nd October 2009.

Swimming - Autumn term 2009

Swimming lessons start this year for the new Sunshine class on Thursday, 10th September 2009. Please bring named swimsuits and towel in a plastic bag. Farnham Leisure Centre will be closing for refurbishment later in the term, so there will be 8 sessions only. Please see the school calendar for detail.

Dinner money - Autumn term 2009

The cost of a school meal will increased in September 2009 to £1-90. Dinner money for the next half-term will therefore be £70-30 or £9-50 per week (£3-80 for the first week only).

Please pay on-line if at all possible [link to the right under What's for Lunch) or by cash. Dinner money cheques (payable to Surrey County Council) are becoming increasingly expensive to bank and it may be some time after receipt before we are able to do so.

Folly Hill Orchard

Apple trees

Mr Ely is organising the growing of a small orchard at Folly Hill. If you would like to sponsor a tree please read the letter in your child’s book bag and fill in the slip attached.

Return to school office as soon as possible.

Vouchers and Tokens

Sainsbury vouchers
The 2009 Sainsbury Active Kids vouchers scheme started on 11th February. Every Active Kids Voucher gives you the chance to win a £50 shopping voucher every 5 min. Enter the free draw and then bring your vouchers into school.

With vouchers collected last year, each classroom has had lots of new equipment to use in their outside areas including a bowling alley! Many thanks to all those who collected vouchers.

Tesco for Schools and Clubs

Tesco for Schools & Clubs 2009 is running in place of Computers for Schools and Sports for Schools & Clubs. Bring your vouchers to school!

Nestlé Box Tops

We raised £50 from Nestlé Box Tops this year (2008 - 2009) - thank you for your support.

Do you eat Shredded Wheat, Shreddies, Cheerios or other Nestlé cereal or cereal bars? Then cut out the tokens on the packets and bring them into school! We have already started collecting for next year!

Flora Tokens
Mrs Helliwell is collecting tokens from Flora lids for cookery items.

The Times / The Sunday Times - Books for Schools
We are also collecting the Books for Schools tokens from The Times/The Sunday Times.
